Whatcom Homeschool Association

WHA is owned and operated by Gary McGill and his wife Bobbe. They are the original homeschooler - a true old school (forgive pun) style home schoolers. They have lots of great info for those who wish to follow a more traditional home schooling format. Since they are the primary organization in the county, and are quite well organized, they are usually the first contact for new home schoolers.

While not a true non-profit, they do provide a newsletter, and various forums and events for your contribution of $20 annually. They do cater to Christian home schoolers, and it is reflected in the way they run the group. To quote: "Everyone can join WHA, but not anyone can be a leader."

You can find them online at www.whatcomhomeschool.org

or through a yahoo groups forum called whatcomhomeschool

  1. I am new to the area and wondered if there was a homeschool group meeting in the county I could attend.

  2. Hi Chris,
The official Whatcom Homeschool Association has a monthly meeting. They do have an online board on Yahoo Groups. If you visit their website I believe you can contact somewhere from there. They also have a weekly Wednesday park day and a lot of groups and clubs.

If you are looking to meet with Homeschoolers who are open in their methodology, feel free to join our facebook group. We are having a "Not Back to School" Picnic on the 20th. The info is on Facebook.

    Welcome to Whatcom County!
